So Exhausted I Can't Sleep

OK. I was in bed. Early for me! It's now 2 am, and I was sort of asleep. The boys were winding down from a whirlwind day watching a movie beside me, but I couldn't make it, and was dozing a half hour into it. But I just woke up feeling a bit queasy and achy. I'm having some anxiety issues again, and I think I've tracked it down to way too much coke and chocolate, fast food (even the at-home kind), and a lack of quiet time with God. I got up to have some saltines and move a bit (usually that helps), and now I'm not sleepy any longer, but I'm dead tired.

This week has been crazy! We're heading into that time of year anyway, but this week Josh is in a play, so we've had final rehearsals on top of our normal activities, cleaning, school, and everything else. The director had an unexpected curve-ball thrown at her today when the main mom helping her with details had a family emergency, so the school called me and asked if I could help. Being the no-inhibited woman I am, I said yes, and we headed out the door at 11 am, not to return until 11 pm. I discovered today that I'm getting too old for long days like this. I don't think we'll go anywhere next week (except maybe to bed).

I'm tired. And I can't sleep.

Yes, Thank You, I Am A Fool

Fool used because I can't use the term I would really like to use for myself right now.

The boys and I have been really into dinosaur movies lately. More specifically, we have gotten caught up in the Jurassic Park movies. We have seen the third a couple times, and just watched it again as well as the first. Tonight we saw the second. I should have considered there was something wrong with it when I realized we were rooting for the dinosaurs!!! The older boys were fine with it--they love all that scary, eat-the-bad-guy stuff.

But as I sit here typing, Andrew is asleep in my bed (because I couldn't tear him off of me after the movie ended) whimpering to himself. What WAS I thinking? Duhhhh . . . hope the dino eats the bad guy . . . .

Please take away my mommy license.

OK. He's in my lap now. Kind of hard to type. Need to go to bed. Hoping he won't cling to me ALL NIGHT. Yes, I am one of those . . . well, you know.

Life Lesson #493

Four boys sleeping together on an inflatable mattress is a bad idea . . . especially when it's a sleepover . . . that started at 4am . . . and you forgot Daylight Savings time was ending so it's really 5am . . . and you have to be at church on time in four hours because you are the new quarter Sunday School teacher for the Women's Sunday School . . . and two of the boys had caffeine a half hour ago, and the other two have a few hours of sleep under their belt. Bet their not as funny in a couple of hours as they are right now.

On the other hand . . . they might actually be manageable in worship service tomorrow.

Don't ask. It's a long story.

And I'm tired.

It's Amazing What Two Full Days of Sleep Can Do

After being sick and sleeping for 36 hours straight, with an additional 12 or so on the couch, I was up half the night last night. I woke unexpectedly this morning around the right time. The circumstances were a little different than I planned, but I was saved from missing the alarm clock that hadn't been set, and it was early enough for a sweet quiet time with my Beloved, so it was worth it. Started my day off much more focused.

I thought I'd really be dragging after being up so late and rising so early, but as you can see, I'm still here at 2am. But I'm ready for bed, so after I write one more post, I'm hitting the hay!

Don't Try to Please Me . . . Please!

It's 3am and I can't sleep. I hate nights like this. I have spent the last hour or so "surfing" Walmart's music downloads. This is the order of what I looked at and listened to:

  1. David and the Giants (Rats! NOBODY remembers them anymore!)

  2. Randy Travis

  3. George Strait

  4. Kenny Chesney (don't particularly like this guy, just wanted to see if I knew any of his songs)

  5. Rascal Flatts

  6. Tim McGraw

  7. Garth Brooks

  8. Harry Connick, Jr.

  9. Bobby Darrin

  10. Dean Martin

  11. The Sound of Music (They actually have TWO movie soundtracks to choose from!)

  12. Oklahoma (Is that REALLY Wolverine [Hugh Jackman] singing "Surrey with the Fringe on Top?")

  13. Carousel (Doesn't ANYBODY remember Shirley Jones and Gordon McRae???)

  14. Yul Brenner (Gosh! Don't these guys do any other roles? I only found the original Broadway Cast, but I was looking for the movie.)

  15. South Pacific (at least some movie soundtracks still make it in there!)

  16. Topol (for Fidder on the Roof, but I only found the original London cast, and even then only one song. I want the movie soundtrack!)

  17. Camelot (but I got mad 'cause they only had one, and IT wasn't the movie soundtrack either!)

  18. Rogers and Hammerstein

  19. Gershwin show tunes

  20. The Mamas and the Papas

  21. Sonny and Cher

  22. The Carpenters

Throw in a little Reggae, some Heavy Metal, and some Bach or Beethoven and I'd be "well-rounded!" Incidently, the boys and I had some free downloads, which we used a couple days ago on lots of Christian music, so that's why I was exploring other . . . errr . . . interests, tonight.

I'm not sure which is weirder: the odd list of music, or the fact that I was doing this at three in the morning!
